Born and raised in New Jersey, Lea Rafisura (she/they) is a proud Filipino-American performer and current BFA Musical Theatre candidate at the Kean Theatre Conservatory. From the moment they stepped on stage, Lea fell in love with the transformative power of storytelling—an experience that continues to shape their artistic journey both onstage and off.Lea’s training spans from an AFA in Theatre at Middlesex College to a range of collegiate and regional performances, including RENT (in concert), Polaroid Stories, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and Peter and the Starcatcher. Known for their emotional depth and musical sensitivity, Lea brings a grounded presence and honest voice to every role they inhabit.In addition to performing, Lea is deeply passionate about the work that happens behind the scenes. They are currently expanding their artistry into production and technical theatre, and are excited to join Premiere Stages this summer as a production intern. This opportunity will allow them to gain hands-on experience in the collaborative, behind-the-curtain world of professional theatre—an essential part of their continued growth as a multifaceted artist.Lea is also a multi-instrumentalist and a lover of movement, language, and dogs. Their training includes guitar, ukulele, ballet, jazz, modern, and Latin dance, as well as dialect work and conversational fluency in several languages including Tagalog and Bisaya. Whether performing, assisting backstage, or connecting through music, Lea approaches every creative endeavor with passion, curiosity, and heart.They look forward to a career that bridges performance and production, championing diverse voices and creating theatre that inspires, connects, and uplifts.
